Define the chemical process stream
Identify the process stage, source and destination on the plant diagram. Mark the requested pump location and the boundaries of the transfer task. Ask the process owner to confirm which stream is being described and which drawing revision should be used when requesting a proposed equipment configuration from the supplier.
Keep unrelated process streams in separate enquiries or clearly separated requirement entries. State whether the proposed purchase concerns a new installation or replacement equipment. Ask the supplier to identify the stream and operating case addressed in its response, and request clarification of any process assumption that differs from the submitted plant documentation.
Provide composition and fluid records
Submit the available composition and fluid condition records for the selected stream. Identify the sampling point and the process condition represented by the report. Ask the process specialist which substances and treatment information should be disclosed for material review, and request the supplier to identify any further information needed for the proposed assembly.
Describe cleaning substances or other known fluids separately from the normal process stream. Link each description to the relevant component exposure question. Ask for a written response against the actual submitted composition record rather than treating a general chemical application description as confirmation of the material suitability of a proposed pump or seal component.
Describe the solids and concentration
Attach the available particle distribution and concentration reports for the process slurry. State the concentration definition and measurement method recorded by the laboratory. Identify whether each sample describes the normal process condition or another requested case, and ask which additional sample information is needed to review the pump requirement against the intended stream.
Keep solids records associated with their own sampling conditions. Ask the project team to review any proposed use of data taken from another stream. Request the supplier to state the slurry record assumed in its configuration response, and raise a separate question where that description differs from the material information submitted with the enquiry.
Request component material documents
Ask for the material descriptions associated with the proposed pump contact components and seal arrangement. Identify the particular component concerned in each material question. Request the configuration and document references needed to compare those descriptions with the process information, and ask for any proposed material substitution to be explained as a separate option.
Refer the returned documents to the buyer specialist responsible for the process requirement. Ask the supplier to identify the fluid and operating conditions used in its response. Keep general material discussions separate from the proposed equipment schedule so the purchase comparison can identify exactly which component and material description the supplier has offered for assessment.
Submit duty and process interfaces
Provide the required flow and head together for each process case, linked to the corresponding stream description. Attach the local connection drawing and available installation space. Ask for the proposed performance document and assembly outline to address the same duty and interface references before comparing the proposed arrangement against the plant requirement.
Identify existing equipment and connection items intended to remain outside the supply. Ask for the pump, drive, seal and accessories included in the proposed package to be described separately. Request clarification if an interface change or revised operating assumption is introduced during procurement, and ask the plant team to review the resulting document changes.
Resolve chemical enquiry questions
Compare the proposal with the composition records, solids description, paired duty and installation documents. Request specific answers to unresolved component material and fluid questions before approving the proposed configuration. Ask for the corresponding maintenance and inspection documents so the plant can identify the assembly covered by those instructions and any remaining technical review item.
Keep the process specialist review separate from commercial confirmation of the supply scope. Ask for revised component documents if the configuration changes during the quotation discussion. Confirm minimum order quantity and lead time before ordering, and request packing, handling and delivery arrangements relevant to the particular equipment package and the intended receiving location.
