Vertical sump slurry pumps

Vertical sump slurry pump enquiries should identify the sump, its changing liquid levels and the slurry to be handled. Prepare a section drawing alongside the requested duty. Ask for the proposed vertical arrangement to be identified in writing before reviewing its connections, installation requirements and maintenance access.

Define the sump arrangement

Submit a sump section showing the proposed pump location, support level and liquid level references. Identify which dimensions are surveyed and which are project requirements. Ask for an outline drawing identifying the corresponding vertical configuration and the parts included in the proposed equipment scope.

Describe any restrictions around the sump opening or supporting structure. Ask which additional dimensions are needed to review the arrangement. Keep proposed alterations to the sump separate from the pump quotation so the project team can identify the installation responsibilities requiring further discussion.

Describe the sump slurry

Provide the available slurry sample information, including the sampling location, concentration definition and particle description. Identify the operating condition associated with that sample. Ask the supplier which additional fluid or solids information is needed to review the proposed vertical sump pump against the intended application.

Describe changes in the sump contents using separate sample or operating records. Request written identification of the slurry condition assumed in the proposal. Refer any difference between that assumption and the submitted records to the project specialist before comparing alternative configurations.

Request the vertical duty response

Submit the requested flow and head together for each operating case. Link the duty worksheet to the sump section and the slurry description. Ask for a proposed configuration and its corresponding performance document addressing those same references, with the conditions of the response clearly identified.

Request clarification where a proposed duty relates to a different sump level or slurry condition. Ask the supplier to keep alternative arrangements in separate quotation entries. Compare the returned drawings and performance information with the same project requirement before approving an equipment schedule.

Check removal and connection access

Provide the available space above and around the sump, together with the proposed discharge connection location. Ask for the installation and removal documents associated with the proposed assembly. Identify existing site structures that need to remain accessible when the equipment is installed.

Request identification of the assemblies and accessories included with the vertical pump. Ask for the maintenance document corresponding to that assembly rather than a general family brochure. Confirm minimum order quantity and lead time before ordering, and request the packing and delivery terms.
