Slurry handling / Procurement guide

Slurry pump corrosion assessment

Corrosion assessment enquiries should identify the fluid record, operating conditions and components being questioned. Provide the composition information held by the process team and ask for a written response concerning the proposed assembly. Keep cleaning fluids, changed process conditions and component material alternatives identifiable throughout the pump procurement discussion.

Define the fluid review boundary

Identify the process stream and the pump duty on the project diagram. State which component or equipment question the buyer wants reviewed. Ask the process team to confirm the available fluid records and the operating cases that belong to the enquiry before requesting a response concerning the proposed pump construction and its contact components.

Keep fluids from other process areas separate from the selected stream. Identify whether the question concerns a new installation or observations from existing equipment. Ask the supplier to name the stream and assembly addressed in its response, and request clarification where the assumed fluid condition differs from the records submitted by the buyer for the particular duty.

Submit composition information

Attach the available fluid composition reports and identify their sampling point and process condition. Ask the report owner to clarify the terminology and reporting basis where needed. Request the supplier to identify additional substance or condition information required for its review rather than replacing the submitted composition with a broad process application name or unsupported material description.

Identify each composition record by its own report reference. Ask the project specialist whether that record represents the intended pump stream. Keep revised reports separate from earlier versions and request a response against the current document, particularly when the process team has changed the fluid description or supplied additional information during the equipment enquiry and quotation discussion.

Separate cleaning and process conditions

List the cleaning substances and other fluid conditions the buyer wants reviewed separately from the normal process stream. Identify the component or exposure question associated with each entry. Ask which further information is required to address those conditions in the proposed construction response, and refer the scope of the question to the buyer process specialist.

Describe changing process conditions using the records available to the project team rather than inventing an average fluid composition. Ask the supplier which submitted cases it has considered. Request written clarification where a proposed component response covers only part of the requested condition schedule so the buyer can identify the remaining material review questions before approving the equipment configuration.

Describe existing corrosion observations

Attach available inspection photographs and component identification from existing equipment relevant to the question. Record the location and condition as documented by the inspection team. Ask which additional operating history or sample information is needed to discuss the observation, keeping the original inspection record distinct from any proposed explanation or newly offered equipment description.

Identify previous component changes or repairs where those records are available. Ask the supplier to distinguish an answer about the inspected assembly from its response concerning the proposed pump. Refer suggested interpretations to the buyer technical reviewer, and request written identification of the component and fluid condition addressed before using the correspondence to close the project material question.

Request proposed material descriptions

Ask for the material description of each contact component relevant to the fluid review. Request the corresponding assembly and component identifiers so the buyer can connect the document to an item in the proposal. Ask for a written response against the submitted composition and condition records, with any material alternative described separately from the main configuration under discussion.

Refer the returned descriptions to the buyer responsible for the process material requirement. Ask for clarification where a document describes another assembly or leaves a component unidentified. Keep general material information separate from the quoted supply schedule so the equipment comparison can show exactly which items have been proposed and which component questions remain unanswered for further project review.

Close the corrosion enquiry record

Collect the fluid reports, condition schedule, inspection observations and component responses under the proposed equipment reference. Ask the supplier to identify the documents and conditions used in its response. Request revised material information when the configuration changes, and refer unresolved questions to the buyer specialist before approving the equipment description for the next purchasing step.

Request the maintenance and inspection document list corresponding to the proposed assembly. Keep commercial scope questions separate from the process review and ask purchasing to identify the included items. Confirm minimum order quantity and lead time before ordering, and request packing, handling and delivery terms for the particular equipment or replacement components being considered by the buyer.
