Slurry handling / Procurement guide

Slurry pump for mining requirements

Mining slurry pump enquiries need a clearly identified stream rather than a general description of the mine. Name the transfer task, attach the available slurry records and submit the requested operating scenarios. Ask the supplier to respond to the same stream, route and installation boundary when proposing equipment.

Identify the mining transfer task

Mark the source, destination and pump location on the mine process or transfer drawing. Describe whether the request concerns a new transfer duty or replacement of an existing installation. Identify the equipment tags and drawing revision that should govern the enquiry, and ask which additional route information is needed.

Keep different mine streams in separate requirement entries. Attach the records belonging to the stream named in each entry, rather than assigning the same description to unrelated areas. Ask the supplier to identify the exact transfer task addressed by its proposal and to flag any assumption requiring the mine project team to confirm.

Submit the mining slurry records

Collect the available particle distribution, concentration and fluid information for the requested stream. Identify where and under which operating condition the sample was taken, together with its collection record reference. Ask the laboratory or project specialist to explain the reporting basis of unfamiliar terms before including those terms in the purchasing requirement.

Describe known changes between sampled conditions without inventing a representative average. Ask the supplier which additional sample information is needed for assessment of the proposed equipment. Request a written statement identifying the slurry record used in the response, especially when several mine samples have been supplied with the original enquiry.

Pair the mine flow and head

Provide the required flow and head together for each mining operating scenario. Identify the transfer route and system drawing associated with that requirement. Ask the supplier to return the proposed configuration and the corresponding performance document for the submitted duty, keeping the slurry reference attached to the same response.

Separate the normal transfer requirement from any other requested case. Ask which cases are addressed by the proposed configuration and which require another proposal. Refer differences in route, duty or slurry assumptions to the project team before comparing proposals, and request a revised response if the mine changes the operating requirement.

Describe the mine installation boundary

Supply the available pump location drawing, piping interfaces and access restrictions. Identify existing equipment that is intended to remain in use. Ask for the proposed equipment outline and connection drawing so the mine team can compare the package against the actual location rather than relying on a category description.

Request separate identification of the pump, drive and other included assemblies. Ask who should review each connection between supplied equipment and the mine installation. Keep any proposed site alteration visible as a separate question, and ask for its effect on the equipment arrangement to be described before approving the quotation scope.

Request mining inspection information

Attach maintenance observations from the existing duty when they are available, identifying the equipment and operating period concerned. Request the inspection and maintenance documents associated with the proposed configuration. Ask which component identification records should accompany a future enquiry about the impeller, liner, seal or bearing assembly.

Describe the inspection access available at the mine and the work boundary the buyer expects to review. Ask for any proposed maintenance arrangement to be documented for that configuration. Keep observations from existing equipment separate from supplier statements about the proposed item so the technical discussion can address the actual mining duty.

Compare the mining proposal documents

Bring the stream description, duty worksheet and installation drawing into the same proposal comparison. Check that the supplier identifies the proposed configuration against each reference. Ask for specific answers to unresolved sample, connection and access questions rather than treating a general mining application statement as a response to the project brief.

Request revised documents when the proposed package changes during the purchasing discussion. Ask the mine technical team to review the returned performance and arrangement documents against the original requirement. Confirm minimum order quantity and lead time before ordering, and request the packaging, destination and delivery arrangements for the particular equipment package.
