Identify the mill transfer duty
Name the process stage and mark the source and destination equipment on the mill flow diagram. Identify the proposed pump location and the boundary of the requested transfer task. Ask the mill team to confirm the stream reference and drawing revision that should govern the supplier enquiry before requesting an equipment configuration.
Distinguish an existing installation from a proposed plant change in the submitted brief. Keep different mill streams in separate requirement entries. Ask the supplier to identify the task addressed by its response, and request clarification if the proposal refers to another stage or assumes a transfer route different from the one described by the project team.
Provide pulp and solids records
Attach available material reports and sample descriptions for the selected stream, including the terminology used by the mill for its solids information. Identify the sample collection point and operating condition. Ask the process specialist to clarify the concentration definition and other reported characteristics before those records are used as the purchasing description.
Describe variation between recorded samples without assigning an unmeasured representative condition. Ask the supplier which additional material information is needed for review of the proposed pump. Request identification of the material record assumed in its response, and refer any mismatch with the submitted mill documents to the buyer specialist responsible for the process duty.
Describe process and cleaning fluids
Submit the available fluid composition and treatment information associated with the mill stream. Identify cleaning fluid requirements separately where they apply to the intended equipment. Ask for the proposed contact component and seal descriptions needed to discuss the buyer material questions against those particular fluid records and operating conditions.
Request a written answer identifying the component and fluid condition covered by the supplier response. Ask for proposed material alternatives to be described separately from the main configuration. Refer the documents to the mill technical reviewer before accepting a component description that differs from the original request or leaves a process fluid question unanswered.
Prepare the mill operating cases
Provide the required flow and head together for each mill operating case and attach the corresponding stream description. Identify the route drawing used by the project team to prepare the requirement. Ask for the proposed configuration and performance document to address that same case before using the response in an equipment comparison.
Keep changed throughput or routing requirements separate from the normal transfer case. Ask which scenarios are addressed by the proposed assembly and which remain open. Request an updated response if the mill changes the operating requirement during procurement, and retain the case references so the technical review can match each document to its intended duty.
Review mill installation access
Provide the local layout with pipe connections, available installation space and restrictions around the proposed pump location. Identify existing items intended for reuse. Request the proposed assembly outline and interface drawing, and ask the mill team to compare them with the current installation documents before approving a suggested equipment arrangement.
Describe the access available for inspection and component removal. Ask for the maintenance document and assembly identification associated with the proposed configuration. Request clarification of any changed connection or access assumption, keeping site alterations separate from the equipment quotation so the buyer can identify the responsibilities needing further project review.
Compare the mill proposal scope
Check that the equipment proposal identifies the mill stream, material records, paired duty and connection drawing used in its response. Ask for answers to unresolved process, material and access questions. Request updated documents when the proposed arrangement changes so the purchase comparison refers to the same current configuration across its equipment and maintenance attachments.
Ask the mill specialist to review the returned technical documents against the submitted requirement. Keep commercial questions with the purchasing team and request an itemized supply description. Confirm minimum order quantity and lead time before ordering, and ask for the packing, receiving and delivery information for the particular proposed package and intended mill destination.
